WEST Bowling showed on Saturday that they can compete with anyone in the National Conference League Premier Division.
But performances do not necessarily mean points, and the Bradford side have now slipped to the bottom of the table, after fellow strugglers Lock Lane grabbed a superb 22-20 win at Heworth.
Bowling almost grabbed victory themselves, putting up a good fight at home to league leaders West Hull.
But it was the East Yorkshire side who left Horsfall with the two points, claiming a 32-22 victory.
Haydn Spence, Lewis Camden, Aidan Scully and Nick Fontaine all crossed the whitewash for Bowling in the defeat, while home kicker Harry Williams added three goals to the total.
Stanningley are also in relegation danger, losing 34-24 at home to Wigan St Patricks in Division One.
They sit fourth-bottom and are only four points clear of the drop.
Drighlington slid down the Division Three table to fifth on Saturday after being crushed 50-18 at title-hunting Beverley.
Over in the Yorkshire Men’s League Premier Division, sixth-placed Keighley Albion threw away a 24-10 half-time lead at Westgate Common to lose a remarkable match 44-38.
Bradford Dudley Hill got their promotion challenge back on track, beating Cutsyke Raiders 38-18 in the pair’s Division One clash.
Brighouse Rangers stayed top of Division Two after thumping lowly Queensbury 52-16, but it is Birkenshaw Blue Dogs who sit bottom, thanks to their 40-32 home defeat against Illingworth.
Wyke were not in Division Three action on Saturday, instead playing last Wednesday, where they won 12-10 at Birstall Victoria to move off the foot of the table.
Keighley Albion Academy moved up a spot to fifth in Division Six, after beating Rycroft Hammers 38-10.
As for West Bowling Academy, they maintained their healthy lead at the summit of the NCL Alliance Division by obliterating their hosts Normanton Knights 60-22.
Finally, Odsal Sedbergh were involved in a friendly match on Friday night, which they lost 42-16 at home to Ossett Trinity Tigers A.
