WEST Bowling are now only off the foot of the National Conference League Premier Division on points difference.

They lost 30-24 at home to Rochdale Mayfield at the weekend, which was tough luck on winger Demir Acarer, who grabbed a brace of tries and Bradley Wright, who crossed to score and landed all four of his goal attempts.

Liam Darville grabbed Bowling’s other try in their defeat.

They are still narrowly above rock-bottom Lock Lane, who joined them on two league wins this season with a 15-10 home victory over Wath Brow Hornets on Saturday.

In Division One, Stanningley stay down in eighth after narrowly losing 20-16 at home to Crosfields.

Drighlington were not in Division Three action this week, so slipped to third after Hensingham’s win over Milford.

Over in the Yorkshire Men’s League Premier Division, mid-table Keighley Albion destroyed Almondbury Spartans’ unbeaten record with a brilliant 38-24 victory.

Bradford Dudley Hill have some catching up to do in Division One, slipping to third after losing 22-14 to leaders Siddal.

Their neighbours Wibsey Warriors remain bottom and winless after being beaten 30-22 at Sharlston Rovers.

Leaders Brighouse Rangers cruised to a 35-16 win at rock-bottom Birkenshaw Blue Dogs in Division Two, while Queensbury dropped to second bottom after conceding their game at Emley Moor Cougars.

Wyke have made an awful start in Division Three, but they were outstanding on Saturday, and almost pulled off a sensational home win over high-flying Dodworth Miners, only to lose 28-26.

Keighley Albion Academy got their first league victory in Division Six, thrashing Guiseley Rangers 34-8, while Birkenshaw Blue Dogs sit bottom after conceding their match at Rycroft Hammers.
