JOE Cullen failed to build on his last trip to mainland Europe earlier this week, with the Bradford darts ace suffering a miserable couple of days in Germany.
He bowed out of Players Championship 9 and 10 in Hildesheim in double quick time, and was so poor in the latter, he felt compelled to post a frank message on X, formerly Twitter:
I don’t think I’ve ever been that embarrassed on a dartboard!!

No reason , No excuse as to why but I dont think I’ve ever played that bad in my professional career? Suppose these things happen but tough to accept after such a horrific performance!
Regroup for Kiel 🫠
Cullen will hope to rediscover his form this weekend in Northern Germany at the Baltic Sea Darts Open event on the European Tour, having flopped in the country just a few days ago.
Last month, the Wyke man was vocal in his criticism of the amount of Players Championship events being held in Germany.
He insisted there was no value in having so many outside of the UK, given that unlike on the European Tour, Players Championship tournaments are held without a crowd, so no revenue is made from ticket sales.
But despite those misgivings, Cullen still took his place in the line-up for the Hildesheim double header.
He probably wished he hadn’t bothered, losing 6-2 in his opener on Monday to Ireland’s Mickey Mansell, averaging a paltry 83.41 in the process.
If Players Championship 9 was bad, then the following day was something else.
Cullen’s opener in Players Championship 10 came against Dutchman Berry van Peer, and he was humiliated 6-0, only averaging an alarming 73.67 during the match.
The Bradford ace did reach the final of the previous European Tour event less than two weeks ago, losing out on the title to Luke Littler at the Austrian Darts Open, so he will surely have some belief that he can bounce back this weekend.
