There is plenty to report on the boxing scene in Bradford, with a couple of the city’s professionals on the same card in Oldham this Saturday.
Fezan Shahid (2-2-2) is facing Lancastrian journeyman Steven Maguire, five years older than him at 37, at the Oldham Leisure Centre.
And the pair will be joined on the night by young Bradford talent Tauseef Suleman (4-0).
He will be taking on MJ Hall, who has lost 112 of his 118 career bouts, in Oldham for his first fight since last July.
Another talented young boxer of Asian heritage from Bradford is Mohammed Subhaan (6-0).
He is only a year older than Suleman, at 23, and the pair could be set for a bright future in the sport.
Subhaan's last fight came earlier this month, as he coasted to a points win over underdog Jahfieus Faure in Barnsley.
Elsewhere, Bradford’s Ryan Labourn (0-13-2) is seeking a first career win when he takes on relative newcomer Lewis Oakford (4-0) in the latter's native London, at York Hall on Saturday, March 9.
Another Bradfordian with an underwhelming record is Jake Pollard (1-60).
He has fights on all of the next three weekends, and is at York Hall himself this Saturday, taking on rookie Nathan Gonzales.
But the Bethnal Green setting might give him some hope, with that the scene of his one and only career win to date last July, against Louis Smithson.
Francis Kershaw (4-0), born in Leeds but living in Bradford, is due to fight at the Oldham Leisure Centre on March 9, though his opponent has yet to be announced.
