ENGLAND Community Lions have announced their men's squad to travel to Perth, Australia in October and two standout local players have made the provisional team.
The first person in question is West Bowling's Elliot Cousins, who had a standout season with his team last season as they were promoted to the National Conference League Premier Division.
The second player in question is Joel Gibson of Thornhill Trojans.
Both men were able to bring their form into the process of selection, with the Community Lions holding a Development Day in July last year, while players also had the opportunity to impress if they were playing in the Presidents Cup and the Southern Regional Carnival.
From there, a large number of individuals were invited to play in the annual Reds v Blues contest in November.
This subsequently ended up with the final trial game East v West which was held recently at Pilkington Recs.
Currently a provisional 27-man squad, the size of the squad will be reduced to a 22-man squad after the players have trained ahead of May, where a final decision will be made.
Those who make the final cut will travel to Perth to play three fixtures, as well as nine-a-side competition before returning home.
