BRADFORD Dragons claimed their third consecutive league victory at Birmingham Rockets last weekend, a result that sees them rise to 7th in the National Basketball League Division One.
It was a tense encounter throughout, but it would be the visitors who came away with the all-important 74-72 win in the Midlands.
With eight spaces available in the play-offs, the Dragons are beginning to build momentum at the right time, and they travel to Colchester this weekend to take on the inform Essex Rebels who currently sit 2nd in the division.
In Birmingham, however, there wasn’t much between the two sides, and it showed after the first quarter with the Dragons going into the interval only 17-16 ahead.
Both teams scored 23 points each in the second quarter, but Dragons pulled away slightly in the third to go 54-49 ahead.
In the last quarter it was all to play for and the hosts sensed a courageous comeback. Although they edged the 4th by 23-20, it was too little too late as the visitors held on for another win, this time by a scoreline of 74-72.
After the contest, Bradford’s star man Zion Tordoff said: “We got the win, which is very pleasing because Birmingham is always a tough place to go to.
“It was a very challenging game, but ultimately, we were able to see it out and get the job done. Hopefully we can follow that up with that level of performance in Colchester at the weekend.”
Kick-off gets underway at 6:10pm on Saturday as the Dragons make the long trip down south.
