SILSDEN Juniors were back to winning ways in the County Premier, a bottom-of-the-table clash at home to Brighouse Sports.

The 11–1 victory included four from Anna Fryers, who also won the Manager's Player-of-the-match.

There were six different goalscorers in total.

Bradford (Park Avenue), who have a League fixture at Thackley this tomorrow, had a fairly-even first half at Sherburn White Rose, which ended all square at 1-1.

Avenue's goal came from their Player-of-the-match Bethany Vickers and good work from new player Hannah Harrison.

But Sherburn took the points with a second goal from Charli Nichol in a close 2–1 result.

Thackley’s player-of-the-match against Skipton was Vice Captain Chelsea Morton.

Taking the armband, she led by example with a combative defensive performance, making crucial tackles and involved in creating attacks.

Despite a goal from the Dennygirls’ Lois Cooper, it was a 5–1 win for League leaders Skipton.

Skipton’s Development side went into their match with Harrogate Railway Reserves as County Third leaders.

Mia Themistocleous was on target with a good goal for Skipton but it’s tight at the top, after a 3–1 win for their third-place visitors.

Bradford United lost 4–1 at home to Pontefract Sports & Social, then suffered defeat again - losing 5–2 at second-place Lower Hopton Development.

Field travelled to Kinsley and the game got off to a great start.

Sarah Binns put away a penalty in the first minute and then Megan Schofield grabbed Field’s second goal after 10 minutes.

Meg Sparkes’ solo effort from 45 yards slammed the back of the net to put Field 3–0 up at the break.

The away side dominated a goal-less second half, as they continued their unbeaten run in the league.

County Second leaders Athletico had a slow start at home to Leeds City.

They struggled to create chances in the first 45 minutes, before a re-shuffle led to a dominant second half.

But they were unable to get past the visitor’s keeper, as another goal-less draw sees the gap between Athletico and the other leading teams reduced.

Bradford City U21s recorded a 4–1 win at Horsforth St Margaret’s, including a Crystal Boyce brace.

City and this Sunday’s opponents Knaresborough Town both sit 17 points behind the leaders, but with seven games-in-hand.

Burley Trojans recorded two good away wins - 4–0 in difficult conditions at Garforth Rangers, before putting in their best performance this season to beat Rangers Athletic 6–1.

Queensbury Celtic have also been on the road for their last two games.

At Horsforth there was a battling performance from both sides in wet and windy conditions.

Queensbury soldiered through and gave a good showing, with some resolute defending and strong goalkeeping in both halves, but it ended up being a 4–0 loss.

Last weekend, there was a much-improved performance at Wortley.

It was all-square at half time after Lily Greenwood’s equaliser, and Queensbury were very much in the game, but Wortley took their chances well in an exciting affair to claim all three points with a 5–1 win.

Ilkley Town’s First Team, who have a County First match at Farsley Celtic tomorrow, were away to Brayton Belles.

They had a relatively tight and challenging first half into a strong wind but still managed to be 2–0 up at the break.

Manager Claire Armstrong was pleased with the positive performance in the second-half and the 10–0 result.

She said: “We gained momentum and displayed a great squad performance in what I feel was a well-deserved win.”

Meanwhile, their Development team, who face Morley Town on Sunday, had a very competitive and hard-fought match against Harrogate Town Reserves.

Manager Steve Orchard was positive about the 1–0 loss to the Sulphurettes.

He said: “We’ve come a long way since the reverse fixture [lost 7–0] so plenty of positives to take forward.”

The West Riding County Cup Quarter-Final stage saw Brighouse Town Juniors away to Leeds United.

An Ellie Dobson tap-in, plus other goals from Jess Rousseau, Katie Astle and Leonie Price put Leeds 4–0 ahead within the first few minutes, then on the 10-minute mark a Brighouse defender headed an in-swinging corner into the back of her own net.

But 9th-tier Brighouse Town Juniors then went up the other end with an excellent run and finish from Hannah Burgess, who found the back of the net to pull a goal back.

But a poor first half ended 13–1 to their 3rd-tier opponents.

An improved second half featured some good saves from Brighouse’s goalie.

The young team kept going until the final whistle, but Leeds went on to win 20–1, and move into the next round - away to ‘giant-killing’ Leeds Modernians, who beat Ossett United 5–0.

Halifax FC recorded another emphatic win in the tournament, beating Knaresborough Town 11-0 on a windy and rainy Sunday afternoon, to book their place into the next round on February 18th.

They will play away at Altofts.

Halifax were also involved in the Quarter-Finals of the FA National League Cup.

Hosts Halifax were 2–1 behind at the break, despite an equaliser from ex-Terrier Lucy Sowerby.

But after another equaliser, from Ellie White, Halifax’s new signing Britt Sanderson put in a stand-out performance and scored a penalty against her old club to give the Eagles a 3–2 lead with 15 minutes to go.

Halifax withstood late pressure to go through to the Semi-Final, at home to Hashtag United on February 25th.

Bradford City’s U19 ‘B’ side play in the 8-a side division of the Community & Education Alliance.

There was a quality performance in a 7–1 win at home to Rotherham United, then last week there was an entertaining 4-4 draw away at Everton.

Grace Ross scored a hat-trick and there was an excellent finish from Aimee Myers.
