NOT everyone would have predicted the sheer brilliance of 16-year-old darting sensation, Luke Littler, but Bradford thrower Joe Cullen was ahead of the curve.
In 2022, speaking to BoyleSports at the World Grand Prix 2022, the Wyke star predicted a very bright future for the, at the time, 15-year-old, when he was asked who he thought could take the sport by storm in the future.
He said: “I’d say Luke Littler (someone who could become a future star) because he’s playing really well at the minute. I bumped into him when he was 12 and he was great then, but he’s 15 now and doing really well in the men’s circuit too, along with Beau Greaves, another player who I think will have a bright future.”
Littler collected £200,000 worth of prize money after reaching the final of the PDC World Darts Championship on Wednesday evening at ‘Ally Pally’ where he lost 7-4 on sets to Luke Humphries.
It was a remarkable tournament for the 16-year-old debutant, and along with Bradford’s Cullen, he will be hoping for a strong 2024 with the arrows.
