CITY of Bradford had seven representatives at the recent North East Region Age Group Championships held at Sheffield Ponds Forge.
Swimming as an eleven-year-old Isabelle Randhawa claimed a silver medal in the 50m freestyle and had top ten finishes in the 100m individual medley, 50m backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly and 100m freestyle.
Kai Mayers swimming as a thirteen-year-old finished in bronze medal position in the 50m butterfly and had top ten finishes in the 100m breaststroke, 100m butterfly, 50m freestyle and 200m individual medley.
Also swimming in the thirteen years age group Amy Hagard claimed a fourth-place finish in the 50m breaststroke, sixth place in the 200m breaststroke, seventh place in the 100m event.
Ciara O’ Carroll was the other top ten finisher when she finished in ninth place in the fourteen years 50m freestyle.
Other qualifiers were Ben Artis, Naevia Kelly and William Smith.
All the swimmers train on the Bradford Aquatics Competition programme under the guidance of coaches Andy Pearce and Sarah Fisher.
In the North East Region Open Championships, medals were hard to come by for City’s swimmers however it was Sophia Gledhill who claimed a third place finish to take home a bronze medal in the 16/under 200m butterfly. Her time of 2.19.32 also placed her fourth in the open event
She also had top ten placings in the 100m butterfly and 200m backstroke.
Other top ten finishers in the 16 and under and open events were, Alex Dunn of Guiseley, (5), Quinn-Austin Kelly (4), Gina Warrior (3), Dawid Naglik (2), Imogen Tiffany (2), Amerlia Jewell (1), Jasmine Shay (1) and Will Skiggs (1).
Seasoned finalist Dunn claimed no less than five new club records and she and Quinn-Austin Kelly claimed five new National Winter Championships qualifying times between them.
