BRADFORD star Joe Cullen has exited this year’s Players Championship Finals following defeat on Saturday.
The former Masters champion thrashed Jamie Hughes 6-1 on Friday to set up a second-round contest with Ryan Joyce, who accounted for German newcomer Daniel Klose.
However, it would be Joyce who progressed to the next round with a hard-fought 6-4 victory against Wyke’s Cullen, who missed two match darts at D16 to force a decider.
The event came to a close on Sunday evening with Luke Humphries taking home the newly revamped trophy, as he defied a nine-darter from Michael van Gerwen to storm to Players Championship Finals glory in Minehead with a brilliant 11-9 triumph in the final.
