Bradford darts ace Joe Cullen will not be competing at the Grand Slam of Darts later this month, but he has learned his first-round opponent for the Players Championship Finals at Butlin’s in Minehead.
The final way for the Wyke native to make it into the Grand Slam was to reach the quarter-final of Friday's Tour Card Holder Qualifier.
But he chose not to compete at the event, and with him not winning Players Championship 30 earlier in the week either, his chances of qualifying had run out.
Cullen was dumped out of PC30 immediately on Thursday, losing his last-128 match 6-4 to George Killington.
The Bradfordian has the chance to make amends for that at the end of the month in the Players Championship Finals, which features the top 64 players on the Players Championship Order of Merit.
The finals take place from November 24-26 in Minehead, with 22nd seed Cullen taking on 43rd seed Jamie Hughes in his opener.
