Bradford Deaf Centre have one hand on the knockout competition trophy they won last year in the Bradford & District Sunday School Billiards League.
There is one round of fixtures still left to play, but a late break of 25 by Brian Robinson secured them a narrow win in their penultimate game, away to second placed Princeville B.
That took the Bradford Deaf Centre on to 10 points in the competition, a total which cannot be beaten.
However, if Princeville B can beat them by more than 23 points in this week's return fixture at the Deaf Centre, both teams will finish on 10 apiece.
Meanwhile, Princeville A remain pointless after another heavy defeat, this time at Pudsey.
That takes Pudsey to seven points and any sort of win in the return fixture at Princeville A will also take them up to 10 points, leaving something of a dilemma for the league committee.
Before the competition started, they declared that if two teams finished level at the top, a play-off match would be arranged, but no consideration was given to the highly unlikely possibility of a three-way tie, which is now very much on the cards.
