Keighley potter Chris Melling suffered a rare failure on his return to England over the weekend.
Having spent the last few weeks playing tournaments in China, he was looking to succeed where his fellow Keighley native Arfan Dad had failed, by reaching Finals Weekend at the Ultimate Pool Players Championship.
But whereas Dad was only a win over Gareth Potts away from making the showpiece, Melling was left stunned after coming bottom of his group.
Opening up with a 6-4 defeat to Kyle Cope, the Keighley veteran suffered an agonising 6-5 defeat to Jake McCartney.
A 6-3 loss to Dom Cooney next up virtually ended his chances of progression, before a 5-4 defeat against Shane Thompson and a 6-2 beating from Cole Bedford left him winless.
Melling and Dad are both due back in action this weekend at the Ultimate Pool Pro Series in Blackpool.
