Football fans are being urged to check their wardrobes for these retro football shirts that could be worth a small fortune.

New research has been released that shows collectors could be sitting on memorabilia worth up to £1,850.

With the Premier League in full swing, supporters will know - all too well - that current kits aren't cheap and are actually set to cost up to £80 this season.

Using eBay purchasing data on vintage football shirts that have been auctioned over the last six months, Creditfix has worked out how much you could earn by digging out some old memorabilia.

The most valuable vintage football shirt was Nike’s Manchester United Away strip, according to Creditfix's analysis.

Collectors are paying up to £1,851 for the 2006-2008 season kit.

A 1977/79 season Home shirt for Liverpool has recently sold for £1500, whilst the Tottenham 1994/ 95 season away shirt was purchased for £872.

Also among the top 20, shirts from two Scottish teams Celtic F.C and the Glasgow Rangers, are featured.
