IT was a busy weekend of football for our Bradford sides in both the FA Cup and in their respective leagues.
The standout result came from Route One Rovers who continued their electric start to the season, a second half Zakariya Khan hat-trick easing the hosts to a 4-0 victory over South Liverpool in the NWCFL First Division North.
The win sees Rovers continue their eye-catching beginning to life in Division One following promotion last season, and they now find themselves in 3rd place after seven games.
Elsewhere in Route One’s league, Steeton climbed into the playoff places after edging out Runcorn Town in a 1-0 win away from home.
Joshua Coe’s 4th minute strike was enough for the visitors to seal all three points.
Ilkley Town couldn’t make it a clean sweep of victories for our Bradford sides in Division One North despite go ahead in the 66th minute at Ashton Athletic through George Pearsoni.
Back came through the hosts through Calum Wilson just nine minutes later, as the game ended a 1-1 draw.
Albion Sports, Brighouse Town, Liversedge and Barnoldswick Town were in FA Cup Preliminary Round action on Saturday.
Albion sealed a 1-0 victory at Burscough to see themselves through to the next round, with Elvind Johnson striking for the away side with ten minutes of the fixture remaining.
A Mohammed Qasim brace saw Brighouse through to the next round in a 3-1 victory at Colne, while a Ryan Moore 90th minute leveller earned Barlick a 1-1 draw at Whitchurch Alport.
Sedge lost to a solitary strike at home to North Ferriby to have their exit confirmed from the competition.
In the NCEFL, Eccleshill United fell to their 4th consecutive league defeat to ensure their poor start to the 23/24 campaign continued.
Second half strikes from Harry Wood and Craig Nelthorpe saw midtable Handsworth cruise to a 2-0 victory.
The defeat leaves Eccleshill with just one and in 15th place after five games.
Silsden lost 2-0 at Frickley Athletic, while Thackley continued their rise up the table with a thrilling 3-2 win at home to Barton Town.
Thomas Greaves scored a brace for the hosts and Liam Hudson added the 3rd for Thackley.
