Bradford (Park Avenue) travelled to local side Liversedge in their final pre-season fixture in the hope of gaining further momentum going into the league season.
In the end, they could be satisfied enough with a 1-1 draw after both sides scored within two minutes of one another just before the hour mark.
The early stages of the first half were a tightly matched affair.
Mason O’Malley’s effort for Avenue was dangerous and deflected for a corner and while Will Longbottom’s subsequent in-swinging delivery caused problems, Jordan Porter claimed the ball in the Sedge goal.
The visitors nearly took the lead shortly after the interval, as Harrison Hooper gained some space following some impressive buildup, but he sliced his shot wide.
Moments later Liversedge went in front instead, as they capitalised from a long clearance by Porter that was not dealt with and put the ball past George Sykes-Kenworthy.
An instant reaction saw Mark Bower’s side equalise instantly.
Will Calligan snuck through courtesy of a defensive mix-up and placed his attempt past the stranded Porter.
The remaining stages of the clash was evenly battled out with both sides cancelling each other out with impressive defensive displays.
Avenue coach Danny King expressed his thoughts on the game, saying: “It was a good game against a very tough opponent on a difficult pitch.
“They were a solid side and it’s going to be like the quality of teams we’ll come up against in the league this year.”
Several trialists featured throughout the clash for Avenue, and King was asked what he thought of their performances.
He said: “There’s some good trialists and I think they’ve worked well with the team.
"It’s just a case of having a word with the gaffer and hopefully seeing one or two of them next week.”
Avenue's next game is their opening Northern Premier League Premier Division clash at home to Macclesfield.
