WEST Bowling are six points clear at the summit of Division One in the National Conference League, but they were given an almighty fright on Saturday.
They were on the road at rock-bottom Thornhill Trojans, who went into the game with a record of one draw and 11 defeats in their 12 league games so far.
But the hosts pushed their visitors all the way, only for the leaders to squeeze to a 32-30 victory.
It was a great weekend for Bowling, with their Under-16s winning the National Cup final against West Bank Bears, and their academy side staying top of the NCL West by beating Stanningley 50-22.
In Division Three of the NCL, Drighlington enjoyed an impressive 36-28 win at Eastmoor Dragons last Thursday.
Bradford Dudley Hill are the new leaders in Division Two of the Yorkshire Men’s League, after they edged out Greetland All Rounders 8-0 on Friday night to overtake Wibsey Warriors at the summit.
The following day, Queensbury went fourth by beating Kirkburton Cougars 26-16.
Brighouse Rangers slipped to the foot of the Premier Division by losing 40-14 at Westgate Common, while Keighley Albion went third in Division One by winning 42-16 at Hull Wyke.
Leaders Seacroft Sharks took the points against lowly Wyke in Division Three, while Birkenshaw Blue Dogs sit top of Division 4B, with Keighley Albion Academy third, after the pair beat Newsome Panthers A and Brighouse Rangers A respectively.
