WOODLANDS reached the last 16 of the ECB National Club Championship for the second successive year with an emphatic 154-run win over Doncaster Town at the weekend.
Their reward for winning Group One is another home tie against former winners Richmondshire, from the North Yorkshire South Durham League.
Richmondshire won the Group Two final by eight wickets against Barnard Castle after chasing down a DLS target of 122 when rain intervened after their opponents had scored 186-8. Former New Farnley wicketkeeper Dan Hodgson scored 47 not out to steer them home.
When the teams last met in the competition, Woodlands won a high-scoring encounter, so the ingredients are there for another absorbing clash.
Skipper Brad Schmulian and all-rounder Muhammad Bilal were the key figures for Woodlands as they moved into the national stages with some ease.
Schmulian again top scored with 66 but young Kieran Collins (48) played an important innings as Woodlands were bowled out for 258. Tim Jackson (36) also made useful runs while spinner Joe Gallagher impressed with 6-32.for the visitors.
Caleb Jewell, who had scored centuries in the two previous rounds, was the obvious dangerman and it was a massive boost when he was dismissed third ball for a duck by Bilal.
With rain threatening, Doncaster knew they needed to score quickly but at 28-6 it was the wickets column and not the run tally that was slicking up quickly.
James Dobson (42no) showed some defiance, but his side were bowled out for 104 with the left-armer Bilal finishing with 5-24.
