WEST Bowling are starting to build a gap at the summit of Division One of the National Conference League.
They stormed to an impressive 38-6 home win over Ince Rose Bridge on Saturday, and with nearest rivals Oulton Raiders losing at Heworth, the BD6 side are now three points clear at the top, with a game in hand.
Mid-table Ince Rose were blown away by impressive full-back Max Trueman, who helped himself to a hat-trick for West Bowling, while winger Charlie Barrett crossed the line to score twice.
Drighlington remain third-bottom after a free week in Division Three.
But their narrow 18-8 defeat to leaders Leigh East last time out should give them hope, given the Greater Manchester outfit went on to dismantle mid-table Eastmoor Dragons 42-4 on Saturday.
None of the Yorkshire Men’s League sides were in competitive action either, but a few did partake in friendlies over the weekend.
There was a Bradford derby on Friday night, as West Bowling Academy thumped Queensbury 46-16.
The following day, Birkenshaw Blue Dogs Academy hosted New Earswick All Blacks, the visitors emerging with a 26-18 victory.
