BRADFORD native Karl Boyes will not be joining Keighley star Arfan Dad in the Ultimate Pool Masters quarter-finals, though he can count himself a little unlucky.

He had made it through to the last-32 after beating Scott Crawley and Geo Edgar, and was in a group alongside Jimmy Croxton, Gaz Royds and Shaun Storry on Wednesday night.

Croxton beat Royds 7-3 to make it through to the final, before Boyes took on Storry.

The Bradford man was 4-2 down but had left Storry with a tricky long pot in frame seven.

He missed the initial attempt at the yellow, rattling the jaws of the top left pocket, but the object ball cannoned back down the table, crashed into one of Boyes' reds, and dropped into the bottom right instead.

Even worse for the Bradfordian that set Storry up nicely to clear the table, though he did have to pull off a double on the black to clinch the frame.

Storry went on to win the match 8-2, meaning an early night for Boyes.

A dramatic final between Croxton and Storry finished 7-7, but it was the former who made it into the quarter-finals by winning the six-red shootout tiebreaker.

Storry went first, setting a marker of 25.02 seconds, but Croxton demolished that target, potting his six reds in just 21.50 seconds to seal a spot in the last eight.
