IT was a case of fine margins for Bradford native Karl Boyes on Monday night, as he failed to make it through to the last-16 of Utimate Pool Champions League.
The 40-year-old was in a tricky looking Group 11, alongside Shaun Storry, Callum Singleton and Cameron Tolley, with only the winner progressing to the next stage.
Boyes drew 2-2 against Tolley, before losing 3-2 to Singleton in his second game.
By the time he reached the final game of the night, both Storry and Singleton had won two matches apiece, meaning only that pair could qualify.
Storry knew he would make it through as long as he avoided a heavy defeat, and he did just that, with he and Boyes playing out a 2-2 draw.
Boyes at least finished third in the group, ahead of Singleton, but having only lost one more frame than he won on the night, he will be disappointed to have come away without a single victory to his name.
