CITY have claimed their most away clean sheets for seven years.

Last night’s goalless draw at Walsall was their eighth shut-out on the road in League Two.

That has beaten the total for the entire 2021-22 campaign - and the five previous seasons.

You have to go back to Phil Parkinson’s final term in charge in 2015-2016 for a better tally when City finished with 10 away clean sheets.

The current team still have six more opportunities on their travels to try to beat that, starting with Saturday’s trip to Newport.

Last season’s fixture at Rodney Parade finished goalless and the Exiles have not scored for three games against City.

Remarkably, it took until the sixth away game of the season on October 15 at Salford for Mark Hughes’ men to grab their first clean sheet.

They have conceded in only four of their last 11 road outings - against the top three Leyton Orient, Carlisle and Stevenage and at Mansfield.

Stevenage’s two goals in City’s 3-2 win last month are the only ones they have let in from six away games since the last defeat on Boxing Day to Carlisle.

For those wondering, the last promoted City team 10 years ago kept 10 clean sheets.
