SHIPLEY-BORN former Bradford (Park Avenue) half-back Paul I’Anson has died at the age 76.
He was spotted while playing with local amateur club Shipley Town, and joined Bradford as an apprentice in 1963.
Shipley received a donation of £21 as a goodwill gesture.
While still an apprentice, I’Anson made his Football League debut in February 1964, as Avenue earned a 2-1 home victory against Aldershot in Division Four.
He signed professional forms later that year and was part of their history-making squad in 1964-65, when Bradford became the last of 'the 92' to lose a league game, after an unbeaten start to the season which stretched to 12 matches.
He made 58 senior appearances in league and cup football for the club and scored two goals.
In May 1968, I’Anson was one of 10 players given a free transfer by manager Jack Rowley.
