PAT McGuire has bounced back quickly from being sacked by Thackley in December, and has now taken a job in the same division.

He has been appointed as Frickley Athletic's new manager in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, and will be looking to ensure their safety, with the club sat just seven points above the relegation zone with seven games to go.

But Bradford (Park Avenue) fans can relax, as taking on this new role does not mean McGuire will be leaving his role down at Horsfall as scholarship head coach.

He told the T&A: "I've absolutely no plans not to be at BPA.

"I love working with a team full-time and the two roles compliment each other well.

"The academy's going great guns at present and there's a great vibe around the place, so it's a brilliant place to be."

He added: "Nothing beats senior football though and the stresses of chasing success.

"I'm delighted to be back in quickly with a big club for the division in Frickley."

There is also a nice link between his role at Avenue and his new one at Frickley, with young striker Lloyd Smith on loan from Horsfall at McGuire's new side.

Smith is in cracking form for Frickley at present too, having netted five goals in his last five games.

He is on loan at the club until the end of the season, and his side will be relying on him to score again in a vital West Yorkshire derby at home to mid-table Golcar United tomorrow, McGuire's first game in charge.
