ELDWICK’S Sophie Thackray finished fifth in the second round of the National Trophy Series cyclo-cross event in Scotland last weekend, but still stood on top of the podium.
The CAMS-Basso rider won the female elite category at Callendar Park in Falkirk as the quartet who were ahead of her were all in the female under-23 category.
Former St Mary’s Menston pupil Bjorn Koerdt (Shibden Cycling Club) was third in the men’s under23 section, while Bradford and district also had two riders placed in the top ten of the girls’ under-16 category.
St Mary’s Menston pupil Florence Greenhalgh (Paul Milnes Bradford Olympic RC) was ninth and Ilkley’s Freya Whiteside (Shibden Cycling Club) 10th.
Former Bingley resident Rob Jebb (Hope Factory Racing) was third in the men’s 40-49 years’ category.
The third round of the trophy is this weekend at Gypsies Green.
