Chris Brandon today signed a two-year deal with City.
The Bradford-born midfielder, who began his career with Park Avenue, has joined his hometown club after being released by new Huddersfield boss Stan Ternent.
Brandon, who played 148 times in four seasons with the Terriers, represents Stuart McCall's first major capture of the summer.
City beat off competition from several clubs for the 32-year-old, including Brandon's former team Chesterfield.
The former Yorkshire Martyrs pupil can play all across the midfield, although his best role is thought to be operating just behind the front two.
He was on loan at Blackpool when they won promotion in the League One play-off final at Wembley last year and scored the winner when Huddersfield knocked out then-Premiership opponents Birmingham in the FA Cup in January.
Included in Brandon's deal is the option to extend his contract for a third season.
