THE Dales Council League are set to have an extra division next season.
The growth has come about because of the demise of the Leeds Wetherby League, whose campaign that has just finished will be their last.
Their member clubs to the east of Leeds ring road are likely to gravitate towards the York & District League, while clubs to the west are more likely to find a home in the ‘Dales’.
So far, clubs or teams that have shown an interest in joining the Dales Council League are Meanwood, Leeds Gladiators, Menston Crompark, Headingley Bramhope, St Chad’s Broomfield Fourths, Leeds Caribbean Seconds and Green Hammerton.
Other clubs or teams that have expressed an interest from elsewhere are West Bowling, from the Bradford Mutual Sunday School League and Calverley St Wilfrid’s, from the Aire-Wharfe League’s Sunday section for third teams.
Clubs hoping to form second teams that are current Dales members are Interlink and Shipley Providence.
Any acceptance into the Dales Council League will be decided by the league’s current clubs at their annual meeting at Pudsey Congs on Thursday, November 3.
Meanwhile, the Dales Council League have decided to award a trophy of memory of former league umpire Alan Lee.
It will go to the club whose teas are rated the best in the league.
