THE fifth Simon Green Motor Engineers championship trial ran in the heatwave on Sunday at the exposed Rough Holden venue high above Silsden where twenty seven competitors raced.
Despite the temperature, only three riders dropped. Nick Eagleton dropped in from Summer Wine country and rode his Honda to the top spot in Clubman B: His daughter Allanna dropped out after a poor, by her standards, opening lap.
Only three riders retired. Jake Weatherill and Chris Johnson won their classes. Frizinghall’s Charlie Petty was third on the hard route and little sister Emily won the conducted hard route class riding her Oset machine. Nige Pearson marked out the main course and Team Dykes plotted the small wheels sections. The sunbathers –sorry –observers were Jane Moody, Sue Driffield, Lisa Eagleton, Graham Smith, Layla Kettlewell, Chris Smith, Connie Taylor and Steve Hirst. The Club thanks all involved.
