CLECKHEATON remain in the relegation zone of the Bradford Premier League Premier Division, as they were thumped by 136 runs at home to leaders New Farnley.

Adam Waite continued his rich vein of form with a superb innings of 120 to help the visitors to 239-8, despite the best efforts of 15-year-old Cleckheaton leg-spinner Ibrahim Ahmed (4-86).

Cleckheaton found the going tough when they batted. Left arm spinner Gurman Randhawa (4-17) and paceman Liam Guthrie (3-32) posed the main threat as they were bowled out for 103.

The four points Cleck picked up in the defeat leaves them a point off Bankfoot, who were not in action on Saturday, and safety.

Bradford & Bingley remain in mid-table, as they lost by 64 runs to fourth-placed Townville.

Jack Hughes top scored with 70 and was backed up by Harry Warwick (45) and Abdul Wahid (34) as Townville made 235-8 against a bowling attack in which Yasir Abbas (3-55) and Bradley Reeve (3-46) were the most successful members.

Bradford & Bingley were bowled out for 171 with Hughes picking up 3-35 with his left arm spin. Jack Luxton (34) proved to be the top scorer.

Woodlands all-rounder Tom Clee showed his increasing importance to the defending champions as he hit career best score of 141 in their 90-run win at Hanging Heaton.

Clee gave a powerful demonstration of stroke play as he notched up 12 sixes and eight fours.

Clee’s hitting was the highlight of a third wicket stand of 202 with opener Tim Jackson, who struck one six and 14 fours while making a fine 110.

Woodlands went on to post a score of 343-6, which is the highest in the Premier Division this season.

It was a tough afternoon for the Hanging Heaton bowlers, with Mustafa Rafique (3-88) and Tom Lindsay (3-57) sharing the wickets to fall.

Callum Bethel (47) was the main contributor as Hanging Heaton were dismissed for 253, Muhammad Bilal taking 3-43.

The result means Woodlands remain 13 points behind leaders New Farnley.

Teenage opener Alex Cree hit the Premier Division’s highest individual score of the season as he guided Methley to a dramatic two wicket win over Ossett with two balls to spare.

Cree made 169 not out and finished the game off by scoring all the last 30 runs his side need to overhaul Ossett’s score of 276-8 from 15 balls.

Farsley were bundled out for just 122, and opponents Pudsey St Lawrence subsequently coasted to a seven-wicket win.

In Division One, Morley boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation with a rousing nine-wicket win over Keighley which lifted them out of the bottom two.

Slow bowlers David Nebard (5-54) and Joel Murnan (4-25) held the key to their side’s success.

Once Noah McFadyen (41) and Billy Whitford (37) were parted, the Keighley innings stalled and they were bowled out for 152.

Morley were powered towards their victory target by an opening stand of 139 between in-form Jack Rowett (75no) and skipper Matt Baxter (63).

The win lifted Morley above Baildon and East Ardsley in the table.

Baildon were never at the races in their game against leaders Jer Lane, who picked up maximum points for the 12th time in 13 games as they breezed to an eight-wicket win.

Despite a battling innings of 80 from opener James Ford, Baildon were bowled out for 141 with Cosmond Walters taking 4-21.

Jer Lane were guided to their victory target by Abubakar Dawood (53no) and Miraj Khan (48).

Carlton boosted their promotion prospects and added to East Ardsley’s relegation fears as they pulled off a six-wicket win.

They are now 36 points adrift of leaders Jer Lane but are crucially 33 better off than third place Undercliffe, who overtook Pudsey Congs after beating them by four wickets.

Skipper Bailey Worcester (43) and Nick Smith (34) enabled them to overhaul the home side’s score of 150-9.

Callum Oliver (34) and Rishi Chopra (34) proved to be the top scorers for Congs while Alex Myers (3-32) proved to be Undercliffe’s best bowler.

Overseas fast bowler Nisar Ahmad took 7-39 to secure a 34-run win for East Bierley at Oxford Road.

Thanks to the impressive Ahmad, Gomersal were bowled out for 133 with only Richard Wear (41) making an impression.

They were replying to an East Bierley score of 167 which featured contributions from Danny Cross (41), Sam Gatenby (38) and Adam Brown (37).

Spinners Jonathan Boynton (4-51) and Daniel Syme (3-17) had most success for Gomersal.

Eric Austin showed no mercy for his former club by hitting 135 not out as Birstall inflicted a 13th straight defeat on Wrenthorpe.

In Division Two Sri Lankan opener Pasindu Thirimadura hit his third century of the season as leaders Yeadon trounced bottom team Wakefield St Michael’s by 320 runs.

Hosts Yeadon were 357 all out, before bundling out hapless Wakefield for just 37.

Second place Sandal kept their promotion push on track as they chased down a Northowram Fields score of 227-8 to win by three wickets with 6.5 overs to spare.

South African batsman Isaac Dikgale struck an unbeaten 82 as Lightcliffe boosted their promotion challenge with an eight-wicket win.

Even a half century from former Yorkshire captain and coach Andrew Gale could not save Hartshead Moor from a 69-run defeat which leaves them rooted in the bottom two.

Liversedge notched their 12th win from 13 Division Three games as they overcame Brighouse by 58 runs.

The leaders looked to be in trouble when they slipped to 108-7 before their number nine batsman Bradley Drake hit an unbeaten 57 which helped them to a total of 202.

Asif Amir (44) proved to be the top scorer for Brighouse as they subsided to 144 all out.

Scholes kept their promotion challenge going with a four-wicket home win over Windhill & Daisy Hill.

Christian Jackson (44), Joe Duffy (36) and Robert Smith (35), enabled them to chase down the visitors’ score of 210-9. Mohammed Waseem (4-64) posed the biggest threat.

Shoaib Iqbal (40) was the top scorer in the Windhill innings while Duffy (3-29) proved to be the best of the Scholes bowlers.

Meanwhile, second-placed Adwalton are 27 points behind leaders Liversedge after their 35-run win over Rodley.

Finally, Altofts cruised to a seven-wicket victory over Gildersome & Farnley Hill.
