SCARBOROUGH Cricket Club are set to open their gates to supporters for next week’s LV= Insurance County Championship fixture between Yorkshire and Surrey with a range of facility improvements made at the ground.

The North Marine Road ground has long been considered as the finest out-ground in the country and this perception will only be enhanced by the considerable investment put into the facilities in recent times.

Spectators attending next week’s fixture can look forward to seeing a number of changes at the ground with redeveloped toilet facilities, new disabled toilets installed at the Trafalgar Square end, a new quiet room available in the North Stand and a family area in eastern section of the North Stand.

The plans don’t stop there though. Scarborough’s Board are pressing on with their intentions to improve Wi-fi in the ground and re-develop the West Stand.

Scarborough CC’s Vice-Chair Paul Harrand, who has been project managing the developments, said: “We are really excited to be welcoming supporters back to North Marine Road next week and are confident the improvements we have made to date will make a big difference to everyone attending.

“Scarborough is a fantastic ground, with a long history of hosting thrilling matches and we are always blessed with good crowds here.

“The work we have undertaken is key to ensure that the ground is welcoming and accessible for everyone and, while there is still more work to do, I think supporters will have an even better experience here this summer.

“We must express our thanks to Scarborough Council, who have supported our developments so far.

“The impact that hosting Yorkshire matches has on the town is massive and we are delighted to be working with a range of local partners to enhance what we offer here.

“We are incredibly excited to be welcoming Yorkshire back, along with a large number of supporters and hope that everyone has a great time here.”

Yorkshire CCC’s Chief Operating Officer Andy Dawson said: “A visit to Scarborough is always an occasion to look forward to and even more so this year given the fantastic work they’ve been doing.

“As a club we’ve been working hard to make sure we are offering a great experience for everyone coming into our stadiums and the improvements Scarborough have made will certainly help us to achieve this.

“I’d like to thank their whole team for their efforts and am sure it will be very special for each of them to see their hard work rewarded with great crowds next week.”
