TOM Pidcock is to make his Tour de France debut as 2018 champion Geraint Thomas and Adam Yates join Dani Martinez in targeting the yellow jersey in the Ineos Grenadiers' eight-man squad.
Olympic mountain bike champion Pidcock, 22, is ready to start only his second career Grand Tour less than two weeks after contracting Covid-19, which forced him to withdraw from the Tour de Suisse.
Pidcock was once a key member of the Bradford-based Paul Milnes team, and he also opened a purpose-built cycling track at Horton Park Primary School on the Canterbury estate in Bradford.
He is originally from Otley and as a member of Otley Cycling Club, he broke the course record on their 'Triangle' time trial route, at the age of just 18.
This summer's Tour gets underway tomorrow with a short time trial in Copenhagen.
