THE entry numbers may have been in the forties but the star content was off the scale at West Leeds Motor Club's Steve Walker Memorial Trial at Skyrakes Moor in Skipton last Sunday.

The weather was good, but with a cool breeze coming over the Pennines.

Harry Hemingway breezed through 14 sections and three laps without dropping a boot on the rugged Skyrakes Moor.

Little brother George dropped three marks on the rocks of section two where the panoramic view of Gargrave town way below was a distraction.

On the hard route, Danny Gamble, on his new TRS, footed just about where George Hemingway did.

Gamble was second ahead of Bradford builder Charlie Smith and Dan Hemingway.

Only 10 riders tackled the championship route, where Anthony Ayrton admitted to being over 45 years old.

The TRS rider won the Clubman A class from Sherco mounted Paul Kettlewell and Tony Heath.

The boy who deserves a mention is Harrison Lightfoot.

His riding number was 32 and he incurred 32 penalties which meant third place overall in the entire class. Some ride indeed.

The Clubman B route was dead on the button.

Thirteen adults and four youngsters enjoyed mild sections and low scores.

Class winner Jeffrey Prior got his Vertigo round on a dozen which included fiving the tough first section.

The course ran north along the rock escarpment and then crossed the moor to the east valley, which had dried out.

The final section featured the angled rocks under the one and only tree. The most notable dismount was by Bradford boy Oliver Petty who flew over the handlebars of his Beta fortunately without injury.

Ace photographer Brian Ayrton got him on the Beta but not during the low flying aerobatic display.
