Since they were installed back in November, the new management team have gradually improved the Guiseley squad and some of the recent signings are beginning to show just why they have been brought to Nethermoor.

The two recruits from Blue Square Premier neighbours Farsley have made an impact and boss Steve Kittrick is convinced central defender James Cotterill, who had an impressive debut in last Saturday's 3-1 victory over Matlock, will follow suit.

"What James will bring to the side is his organisational skills and he is also a very good communicator," said manager Kittrick, who is still looking to get another debutant involved as midfielder Lee Pugh waits in the wings.

"He is a good talker on the pitch. You can see him urging, helping and informing his team-mates throughout a game. I know how much he brings because I have worked with him at Ossett.

"Bailey Camfield did well on the right-hand side against Matlock. Once again it was his debut but he fitted in so effortlessly. He is short of match practice so couldn't last the whole game but his fitness is improving day by day.

"He has a very good pedigree, having been with Leeds as a youth and then taken on by Farsley. He is only 19 so it's no dent on him that Farsley let him go. In their position this season, they need experienced players who know their way around the Conference.

"The same goes for Damian Dunne. He has played well in the Blue Square Premier this year so he is the type of player we want on board as we look to get promoted.

"It was a shame he got sent off in stoppage time against Matlock but you can't lift your hands to a player. Our guys said the Matlock player appeared to stamp on him when he was on the deck.

"By all accounts their skipper begged the referee not to send Damian off but he had to follow the letter of the law and there can be no comebacks on that.

"I'm not happy about it because one of my best players is going to have a three-game suspension - but you have to live with it and hopefully it will be a valuable lesson for Dunny."
