BRADFORD builder Charlie Smith topped out Sunday with a winning ride at the annual Yorkshire Centre A.C.U. Tetley Trophy Trial at a sunny and dry Kingstone Farm.
Inter grade Vertigo riding Smith rode the fourteen Richard Shepherd plotted sections, incurring a mere fifteen penalties which was six under local ace Danny Gamble.
Elliott Laws was the top novice by a mile.
Ilkley’s Daniel Smith was placed sixth in the championship class. The two mile lap took in adjoining Smiths and Burtons where five sections tested the field.
The east escarpment of rocks was followed by a ride to the infamous Holly Tree where former Honda trials star Rob Shepherd observed the rugged climb.
Julia Rose was on the tenth stream climb. Huddersfield Falcon contender Thomas Jackson won Clubman A from Ilkley decorator Graham Tales and Lancashire engineer Anthony Ayrton.
West Leeds veteran Nigel Crowther was fourth and looked good on his Vertigo. Neil Gaunt dispatched the Sherco duo of Phillip Hammond and Robert Hardísty with a dab in section three on lap two.
Bradford Motor Club ladies Bethanie Dunning and Lucy Ayrton were placed 14th and 18th in the Clubman B class. Only forty nine competed which was unusual for what is or was a top class Centre Championship event.
