City youth went down 2-1 to Grimsby in atrocious gale-force conditions.
City should have taken an early lead when Liam Bartle's cross went unfinished but it was Grimsby who struck first after 21 minutes when the home offside trap fell down.
Brinsley Sheridan levelled with a calm finish after Luke Sharry's shot was fumbled by the Grimsby keeper.
City stoked up the pressure but failed to take their chances and were punished in the last minute, though they complained bitterly that the goal should have been chalked off for offside.
City Youth: Convey, Griffiths, Bartle, Sharry, Bowes, Smith, Bleau, Horne, Sheridan, Dean (Carson 55min), Osborne. Subs (not used): Banks, O'Hara, Newton, Myles.
