City are considering whether to make Demar Stewart their fifth Jamaican capture.

Stewart, the younger brother of former Bantam Damion, is currently on trial at Valley Parade.

The 23-year-old Reggae Boyz international is on Sheffield United's books, although he is playing for their Belgian feeder club White Star Wolowe.

Like Damion, Stewart is also a centre half and Stuart McCall has borrowed him from his former club to take a look.

McCall said: "If you look at the Jamaicans that have come to the club - Omar Daley, Donovan Ricketts, Jermaine Johnson and Damion - they all arrived as unknowns really and have been a success.

"We have been looking for centre back cover and it was brought to our attention that Demar might be available. So it's a chance to bring him over and have a look."

Stewart played for the reserves in their friendly at Sunderland on Wednesday and McCall is hoping another trial outing can be arranged for next week.

"Demar is one that we will monitor at this moment in time. He's only played one game so it's hard to judge.

"I don't think he's played a lot of football recently and may be slightly rusty.

"But somebody told me about Damion Stewart and how he was very raw in the first few months. There were questions whether he would make it but, after being coached properly, he looked very good.

"He ended up getting the move to QPR, and I'm led to believe other clubs higher up have been looking at him."

Stewart's agent, who advises all the Jamaican players, is trying to find out his contract situation with the Blades.

The defender, who is said to be a more aggressive player than his brother, made his international debut against USA two years ago but he would have to meet the appearance criteria to qualify for a new work permit should City make a move.
