No scheduled fixture last weekend did LIVERSEDGE no favours but they are back in action at Clayborn on Saturday as they host Selby Town in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

"Thackley was our last game on January 5 and that is a long break at this stage of the season," said Sedge boss Steve Newton.

"We should have gone to Hallam the following Saturday, while last week we had no game and no midweek fixture in either week. So we have only had one game called off, which wasn't at home, but it is 21 days since we played and that's crazy.

"Selby haven't missed a game at all and that keeps them sharp, although it could go either way. We could be fresh and champing at the bit while they are tired and have a couple missing or carrying knocks.

"We should be at close to full strength, with Nicky Boshell the only real doubt. That is short term, as we still have Andy Markham and Paul Smith nowhere near. Luke Sherman should be back though.

"Our pitch is 95 per cent spot on. The odd patch holds water but if we don't have a massive downpour tomorrow or Saturday morning, it will definitely be playable."

ECCLESHILL are also hoping a home fixture will be fulfilled but they will have to bounce back from a series of poor results if they are to get anything from the visit of Glapwell.

The latest saw the Eagles slip out of the League Cup following a 3-1 midweek defeat at Lincoln Moorlands Railway, which was their sixth straight defeat.

THACKLEY beat Eccleshill during the Christmas holiday period and then went on a good run. They hit the buffers with a 4-3 home defeat to sixth-placed Nostell Miners Welfare last week but are still determined to pull further away from the relegation zone.

John Boyle's men are fifth from bottom but if they get back to winning ways they will put distance between themselves and the club directly below them when they make the trip to Brodsworth Welfare on Saturday.
