LAST weekend, the return of women's football saw a bundle of goals.
The Junior Shield Quarter-finals see Ilkley Town’s u12s at Altofts.
Meanwhile in the FA Reserve Division, City’s u23s met Stockport County.
Hannah Markey put City in front before County scored either side of half time. But Markey completed her double to secure a 2–2 draw at Zara Sports Centre.
The West Riding League had a very limited programme, with most matches unplayable due to waterlogged pitches.
In County Premier, Silsden were at Selby College for their game against Brayton Belles.
A close first half ended 2–2, with goals from Elly Field and Nic Frankland and good play from “Bob” Gaines. However Brayton pulled away after the break to win 7–2.
In County First, Ilkley Town were at Adel for their return game with Leeds City. Despite many chances, it was still goal-less with ten minutes to go. But the Baht’Atters kept up the pressure to score two late goals and win 2–0.
County Third leaders Athletico entertained West Yorkshire Ladies at Bradford Academy.
West Yorkshire, who host Bradford (Park Avenue) Development at Sandygate Lane on Sunday, went in front early-on through Dani Kelly, with an Olivia Snaith bullet-header giving the visitors a 2–0 lead just before the interval.
There was good play from Athletico’s Yasmin Islam, and Megan Sparkes, who scored two, including one through a spectacular overhead kick. However West Yorkshire’s set-pieces won the day 5–2. There was further disappointment as Brighouse Town Devs, who are at Queensbury next Sunday, won their game 8–1 to take over at the top.
