Kidderminster Harriers 2, Farsley Celtic 1

An injury-time winner for the mid-table hosts broke Farsley's hearts after they had taken the lead in their quest to pull out of the relegation zone.

Damien Reeves put the Celts in the box seat in the 17th minute and had things stayed that way they would have clawed their way out of the bottom four.

As it turned out they now need two points to overhaul Altrincham after the Chesh-ire outfit managed a home draw against York City.

Farsley's squad is still undergoing an overhaul in the January transfer window but there was only one out and one in before Saturday's trip to Kidderminster. Former Huddersfield Town and Hal-ifax midfielder Chris Billy has been released while young goalkeeper Curtis Aspden has been recruited from Hull City.

Everything looked rosy as Reeves scored a good goal to put the visitors in the lead early on. The striker picked the ball up after a defensive error by Michael Blackwood but still had 50 yards to race before tucking a shot past the home keeper.

The Celts began the second half just as positively. Roy Stamer hit the bar with a cross-cum-shot and James Knowles sent in a shot that the home keeper did well to fingertip around his post.

Kidderminster hit back with a beauty when leading scorer James Constable lashed a shot into the bottom corner from two yards outside the area in the 51st minute.

Farsley were undaunted as Reeves and Simeon Bam-brook caused problems for the home defence.

A full five minutes into time added on the Harriers snatch-ed a victory. A looping header by Russell Penn dropped over Aspden to leave him on the losing side on his Celts debut.

"It was a bit cruel," said Farsley match-day secretary Alan Hirst ahead of tomorrow night's re-scheduled FA Trophy replay at Alfreton Town.

"We deserved a point at the very least and we have picked up a couple of injuries because it was such an intense game. Matthew Lawler and Mark Hotte were both substituted because they had picked up knocks.

"Amjad Iqbal did not have to come off but picked up a strain and will need treatment today in a race to get him fit.

"The forecast isn't good for tonight but we hope it escapes the weather as we need it out of the way."
