Farsley Celtic will be looking to haul themselves back out of the relegation zone of the Blue Square Premier on Saturday but they will have to hope Yorkshire neighbours York City do them a big favour.

The Celts travel to mid-table Kidderminster Harriers, assuming the game beats the bad weather.

They need at least one point to overhaul Altrincham, who have played one game more and currently sit in the last safe spot.

Should Altrincham lose at home to York, who in turn are one place above Kidderminster, the door will open for Farsley.

The Celts have been outside the bottom four relegation places for most of the season but found themselves leapfrogged by Altrincham after Christmas.

With the side directly above the Lancashire outfit - Weymouth - five points clear and the side directly below the Celts - Northwich Victoria - seven points adrift, the battle to stay up currently looks likes being between these two, though there is still plenty of time for things to change.

Farsley manager John Deacey is believed to be set to release one or two players - one of them rumoured to be former Halifax and Huddersfield midfielder Chris Billy - to free up the wage bill and let him bring in new players in the January transfer window.

But the club were remaining cagey today.

Chairman Andy Firbank said: "There are a lot of things up in the air at the moment but I have full confidence in John and know he will make the right decisions.

"He is looking at a striker and a keeper mainly but you have to keep things under wraps because it is such a sensitive time."

Farsley drew 1-1 at home to Kidderminster earlier in the season, Amjad Iqbal scoring for the Celts.
