Guiseley boss Steve Kittrick admits the run of postponements since he took over has gone "beyond a joke".

He has prepared his squad for the visit of Ashton United on Saturday in the UniBond Premier Division but once again knows the fixture is in the lap of the Gods in light of the bad weather.

The mid-week cup tie at home to Eastwood Town was the seventh postponement of Kittrick's short reign.

"It was a frustration at first but it's become ridiculous, beyond a joke," said the boss.

"The pitch has improved all week but we could be back to square one with more downpours.

"We have no fresh injuries, unsurprisingly, but we have two new signings and two players still waiting to make their debuts.

"We had to pay money to get both defender James Cotterill and midfielder Lee Pugh from Ossett Town this week.

"Ossett didn't want to let them go but the transfer fees have made it happen and I know just how good they are. With Steve Smith and Tom Greaves added to the squad since we last played, it is very exciting."

Smith is a former Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United midfielder who had a spell out of the full-time game after suffering cruciate ligament damage. Greaves played in the Conference North for Bradford Park Avenue.
