IT was a wonderful evening down at The Shipley Club last Saturday, as former World Snooker Champion Ken Doherty dazzled on the baize and with his banter.
The Irishman, who scooped snooker's biggest prize at The Crucible back in 1997, took on nine different club members at an exhibition last weekend, winning every frame, hitting three century breaks to boot.
Gilstead snooker enthusiast Keith Walker, who organised the event, said: "It was a great night.
"Ken was on fine form, and he hit three centuries, two of which were back to back.
"His banter with the crowd was brilliant and when we had finished (the nine frames) we had a question and answer session, which went down very well too."
The results of the nine frames were:
1. Mark Pratt 27 Ken Doherty 72
2. Craig Farrar 33 Ken Doherty 79
3. Dennis Collett 0 Ken Doherty 112 (106 break)
4. Steve Willis 6 Ken Doherty 116 (108 break)
5. Dave Robson 28 Ken Doherty 81
6. Mike Fearnley 24 Ken Doherty 88
7. Ben Sizer 32 Ken Doherty 86
8. Tony Morgan 17 Ken Doherty 95
9. Tony Youngs 8 Ken Doherty 135 (114 break)
