Farsley 1, Crawley Town 5

Farsley suffered a heavy home defeat to spoil their holiday period after Boxing Day's superb home win over rivals Halifax Town.

Visitors Crawley were 5-0 up before the Celts troubled the scorers. Despite the footballing lesson from the southerners, Farsley's position in the Blue Square Premier did not alter.

Crawley scored at either end of the first half, Lee Blackburn breaking the deadlock in the eighth minute and Pierre Joseph-Dubois doubling the visitors' lead seconds before the break.

Three goals in a four-minute spell before the hour finished Farsley off.

Tyrone Thompson's strike opened the floodgates, Steven Evans was next on the scoresheet and Jamie Cook gave Crawley a nap hand.

In the 74th minute, Celts' sub Gareth Grant collected a throughball 25 yards from goal and skipped into the area before firing in a shot that took a deflection on its way into the net.

Had Damian Reeves netted his two presentable opportunities and Lee Tuck not been denied by a save from the visiting keeper, Farsley would have restored some pride.

Spokesman Alan Hurst said: "We were not as good as when we beat Halifax but you have to give credit to Crawley. They were clinical, they took advantage of our mistakes.

"Other results have gone our way so we haven't lost all that we gained on Boxing Day. We are still five points clear of the relegation zone."
