Minister for Sport Gerry Sutcliffe (South Bradford) has opened the £28,000 fitness centre at Haycliffe Special School.
"The new facility will help us to encourage healthy lifestyles," said the school's director of sport Barry Holden.
"We already have specialist sports college status and we also have Healthy School status."
Holden added: "We were having some building work done and we got more cash to spend when we became a sports college.
"We decided to have a quadrangle roofed over and that is where we put the fitness suite.
"We have cardio-vascular equipment, two treadmills, two rowing machines, two cross-trainers, two exercise bikes and four resistance stations for different strength exercises."
