FORMER Bradford City striker Oli McBurnie has suffered Euro 2020 heartbreak, after missing out on selection for Scotland's 26-man squad for the finals with a fractured metatarsal.
McBurnie, who failed to score in his two seasons with the Bantams, had been making regular appearances for Scotland, and scored a crucial penalty in the shootout win over Serbia back in November, which guaranteed his adopted country a place in their first major tournament this century.
But the Leeds-born forward has struggled badly with club side Sheffield United, scoring just once all season in the Premier League, as the Blades were relegated by a distance
He missed out on the squads for Scotland's World Cup qualifiers in March against Israel and Austria, though did return off the bench for their 4-0 win over Faroe Islands.
His place in Steve Clarke's Euros squad was by no means guaranteed anyway, but that broken foot against Arsenal on April 11 has put paid to his hopes once and for all.
There was some controversy earlier this month too, with a 24-year-old man arrested after a video emerged on social media appearing to show McBurnie in an altercation with some young men in Knaresborough.
There is better news for ex-Bantams goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin, who has made the final cut.
He might get the chance to add to his two Scotland caps so far, but is likely to be third choice behind the experienced David Marshall and Craig Gordon.
