Thackley will be looking forward to their trip to Lincoln Moorlands Railway on Saturday after taking six points from their two NCE League games so far over the holiday period.

They went into Christmas week with the best possible tonic after hitting Lincoln for six in the reverse fixture. Striker Nicky Matthews will also be relishing another game after plundering seven goals in the last two outings.

He bagged four against Lincoln in the 6-2 rout and followed that with a hat-trick in the 3-2 derby victory over Eccleshill United on Boxing Day, although pragmatic head coach John Boyle will ensure everyone's feet remain firmly on the ground.

Boyle had set his players the task of taking seven points from the three games, so he is well on course with a trip to Lincoln still to come - but he also warned his players to take nothing for granted.

Lincoln may be one of only four clubs below Thackley in the table but Boyle still feels they are a good side. He is also aware that there will be some kind of backlash as the Lincoln players will wish to avenge last Saturday's heavy defeat.

ECCLESHILL management duo Mick Watson and Andy Patterson will be wondering which of their teams turn up as they host Selby Town.

Will it be the side that beat Selby 3-2 away last Saturday or the one that lost by the same score at neighbours Thackley in midweek.

Both Watson and Patterson have expressed frustration at the inconsistency of their charges this term and the past week has highlighted their views.

LIVERSEDGE, like Thackley, are another club seeking to maintain their 100 per cent record over the busy festive period as they host Maltby Main.

They won the reverse fixture 2-1 last Saturday and then gained another maximum three-pointer from a 4-0 victory at struggling Glasshoughton Welfare on Boxing Day.

SILSDEN boss Paul Schofield says his side need to take Boxing Day's result and use it to transform their home form in the Vodkat League as they go into two successive games at Cougar Park, beginning with Atherton Collieries on Saturday.

"The win at Colne was fantastic and I think that is the best we have played collectively all season," said Schofield.

"We have no new injuries, so there are no excuses. To get three points at home and go into the new year on the back of that would be a big boost."
