Leeds United could go top of League One for at least a couple of hours if they win their sell-out, high noon clash with Hartlepool on Boxing Day.

With Swansea City kicking off at 2pm and Nottingham Forest an hour later, Leeds will overtake their rivals if they win.

In fact, with Leeds superior goal difference, a draw would be enough to put them top.

Leeds were fortunate to beat Hartlepool earlier in the season but Danny Wilson's side have had a poor run of late. Hit by injuries, they have only picked up two wins in their last eight outings.

This will be Leeds' first competitive match at the Victoria Ground since Don Revie's side declined to change in the dressing rooms there in January 1979. The team prepared in a nearby hotel and went on to thrash Hartlepool 6-2.

The ground has improved considerably since then but is still a far cry from Elland Road and with former Leeds players Ian Moore and Robbie Elliott wanting to put on a good show, this won't be an easy game for Leeds.
