Maltby Main 1, Liversedge 2
Liversedge earned the victory that kept them second in the table but they had to battle against a spirited Maltby side after wasting several first-half chances.
Sedge stormed the home defence from the onset and could have broken the deadlock in the eighth minute.
An Andy Shuttleworth cross-cum-shot deceived the home keeper and hit the bar. Matthew Sparkes was following up but the keeper reacted well to turn his effort over.
Just two minutes later, Sedge were in front, Daryl Leach went up to get a header onto a Shuttleworth free-kick. That was also touched onto the woodwork by the keeper but the ball crossed the goalline.
The visitors started the second half in similar fashion and scored again after forcing another set-piece. Nicky Boshell drove the ball into the area and a defender cleared it for a corner, Boshell also delivered that flag kick and Leach rose to head in his second.
Maltby hit back with a pincer movement. Danny Mullooley broke on the right, he swept the ball to the opposite side of the area to Scott Somerville. Sedge keeper Lee Ashforth parried that but Mullooley continued his run and slotted the rebound into the empty net.
