Richard Chattoe was released from his role at Bradford Park Avenue a few weeks ago but their loss became the Cobbydalers' gain this week as Silsden snapped up his experience.

Assistant manager Jimmy Christian reluctantly stepped down after last Saturday's game but Chattoe was willing to step into the breech.

"Jimmy had to curtail his duties with us because of his schoolwork as a PE teacher," said manager Paul Schofield.

"He has taken on more extra curricular activities and has become a head of year so he simply hasn't got the time needed for the involvement he has been putting in.

"Obviously he wants to further his career and we fully appreciate that.

"Jimmy started with me two and a half years ago so I will miss his input. He has been a massive help to me since I took over and the club and myself have thanked him for his services.

"He will continue to play for our Sunday side and we will keep his registration because he said he will help us out if needed.

"As one door closes, another opens and Richard has come in to fill the void and we could not be more delighted with the outcome. The experience he brings will be very welcome at the club.

"I have never worked with him but I have known about him and his methods at Guiseley and Park Avenue and he is also very local to Cougar Park. He came to see us and, after the chairman and myself had talked to him, we were very impressed.

"The good news is that he has come straight into the fold. He did his first training session with us on Tuesday.

"He will ease himself in by sitting with me in the dugout today but he will be assistant manager, coach and player once he settles in."
