John Deacey aims to keep his unbeaten record in tact since becoming the permanent Farsley Celtic boss at Droylsden in the fourth round of the Setanta Shield on Saturday.

The Manchester outfit are one of just four clubs below Farsley in the table.

There may be no points on offer this time but it would be a shot in the arm for the club to progress in the Blue Square League Cup - named the Setanta Shield by the satellite channel who give coverage to the division - ahead of the busy Christmas period.

Nevertheless, Deacey made it clear where his priorities lie, saying: "The cup competitions are all well and good but survival in the league is our main objective this season.

"The club has worked so hard for years to get into this division and we cannot afford to get distracted."

After a caretaker spell in charge, Deacey - assistant to former boss Lee Sinnott - was confirmed as the new man at the helm permanently before the FA Trophy first round tie at Gateshead.

That initial meeting ended in stalemate but Farsley won the replay 4-1 on Wednesday - a victory that was harder than than the scoreline suggests.

The Celts earned a home tie against Alfreton Town in the next round and picked up no fresh injuries ahead of tomorrow's match.

Deacey has made Neil Parsley his number two and said: "I hope Neil will help me consolidate the club in the Blue Square Premier.

"I know he hasn't been an assistant since he worked under Bobby Davison at Guiseley and is used to being number one but I value his experience and input."
